How to draw a Bettie Page inspired pin-up part 3

Image
ok so I went through and filled out the base layer before duplicating it to create the second layer for shading. here is the base layer with different opacity, I usually leave one layer alone but int his case I want the face to stand out so I erased the base layer to create a contrast.  here are both layers together with variant opacity nothing specific I just try and find the right levels that compliment each layer.  I think the purple hair is some sort Katy Perry influence. I also added her lipstick. Here is a near final color version I have added a top layer to get back some of the orginal lines. All that is missing now is her eyes, as well as a 3rd layer of color on everything, and maybe some sort of background colors

Pin-up on iPad2

Image
I took the Bettie Page pin-up how to drawing with the base skin color and did a quick run on my iPad2 using Sketchbook Pro . I posted to my twitter using the iPad, but here is a little jpeg of it. I didn't even go over her face but you get the idea, also compare this to the final done in Photoshop. I'm sure using the mouse in Photoshop vs. iPad2 with a stylus.

How to draw a Bettie Page inspired pin-up part 2

How to draw a Bettie Page inspired pin-up part 2 first skin tone layer. Here is a simple skin tone layer done in photoshop I like to use darker tones so I can use the layer as an overlay. I'm sure a lot folks would use the dark lines as an overlay, depending on how it will look I might do that towards the end. Part 3 coming soon!

Here is a quick sketch of Spidey, I really owe a lot to the hours I spent as a kid copying Todd McFarlane.

How to draw a Bettie Page inspired pin-up Part 1 the sketch to digital ink First thing to remember is its usually a copy written photo of Bettie page your using so really let your style come through even if it ends up looking nothing like Bettie Page. I also like to make the body a little more Barbie like and fake just so I can throw in some curvy shapes. In this case I added an angle to her back and even changed the back foot from the original. I have made her boobs slightly bigger and sort of curved her behind a bit more than the source photo. Also I wasn't going to add the other hand but changed my mind. It's almost like you should deviate from the original, then when you are doing a final run, compare it your source photo again. Mainly re edit any weird looking or strange anatomy. I have never really been happy with my inking, I know I'm putting it o

Science Fiction Weapon Concepts

Here are a few older examples of my concept work pertaining to video game weapons. The first one being the only of the two that is close to being finished I should have changed the levels in Photoshop but just image them darker hehee.
